Marx and Confucius: A Historical Encounter

Abstract

This book takes the encounter between Marx and Confucius in China since the late Qing Dynasty, especially since the May Fourth Movement, as its main thread. Through the restoration and tracing of specific historical contexts, it attempts to reveal the inherent possibility and theoretical basis of this encounter from multiple dimensions, including philosophical concepts, cultural archetypes, and spiritual temperament, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of the Sinicization of Marxism.
