Abstract
Poverty Alleviation: China’s Experience and Contribution is a white paper published by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China that documents China’s comprehensive efforts and achievements in eliminating extreme poverty. The book outlines how China, home to nearly one-fifth of the world’s population, successfully lifted all rural residents out of extreme poverty ahead of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda target, marking a historic milestone in national development and global poverty reduction. It presents the strategies and measures adopted — such as targeted poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, and social support — and highlights the leadership role of the Communist Party of China in mobilizing society and coordinating resources. The book also discusses China’s exploration of a uniquely Chinese path to poverty alleviation and its contributions to international cooperation on poverty reduction. Overall, the work offers a detailed account of China’s anti-poverty campaign, its policy framework, implementation experience, and implications for global poverty governance.
