Abstract

This book outlines the structure and functioning of China’s political party system, characterized by the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) alongside multiple non-communist parties participating through cooperation and consultation. It explains the system of multi-party cooperation under CPC leadership, emphasizing political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in governance rather than electoral competition.

The work highlights the role of consultative mechanisms—such as the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)—in shaping policy and fostering consensus among different political and social groups. It also situates this system within China’s broader governance framework, presenting it as an alternative model to Western multi-party electoral systems, with a focus on stability, unity, and long-term policy continuity.
