Abstract
This bilingual volume compiles key excerpts from speeches, reports, and official writings of Xi Jinping on respecting and protecting human rights. The collection brings together over 300 statements drawn from more than 160 documents produced between 2012 and 2021, organized into thematic sections addressing China’s approach to human rights.
The book emphasizes a people-centered conception of human rights, prioritizing rights to subsistence and development, and presenting a model of human rights development adapted to China’s national conditions. It also highlights legal protections, social welfare, and the protection of vulnerable groups, while positioning China’s approach within broader global human rights discussions.
Overall, the work serves as an official articulation of China’s human rights philosophy and governance framework, aiming to provide both domestic and international readers with a structured understanding of its theoretical foundations and practical applications.
