Abstract

The book examines China's experience with poverty-alleviation microcredit as a financial instrument for addressing the difficulty poor households face in obtaining loans. It systematically discusses the institutional design and policy framework of China's poverty-alleviation microcredit program, including policy innovation, implementation mechanisms, and major outcomes. The book also analyzes how microcredit can reduce barriers to borrowing, improve the effectiveness of financial resources, support income generation among poor households, and strengthen financial risk prevention and control.
