| dc.description.abstract | Closer to Heaven: A Global Nomad’s Journey Through China’s Poverty Alleviation is a narrative account of the author’s travels across China documenting poverty-reduction programs and social development initiatives. Drawing on his experiences as a journalist, Erik Nilsson describes visits to remote villages, disaster-affected regions, and underdeveloped communities where government programs and local initiatives aim to improve living conditions. The book presents stories of economic transformation, infrastructure development, education initiatives, and community resilience. Through interviews and personal observations, it highlights how poverty alleviation policies have affected people’s lives in different regions of China. The narrative also reflects on cultural encounters, volunteer activities, and the broader challenges of reducing poverty in geographically and socially diverse areas. | |
