Abstract
The book reviews the theoretical origins and development of social intermediary organizations and compares their development in developed countries, East Asia, and China. It then examines internal governance issues, including organizational structures, value-chain management, pricing strategies, human-resource management, and internal credit systems. A further section focuses on external regulation, examining government regulation, industry self-regulation, and public supervision. It also investigates the relationship among social intermediary organizations, government, and markets, and considers how public policy can encourage their development.
