Abstract

This book explores the complex nature of livelihood systems and their role in achieving sustainable poverty reduction. It emphasizes that livelihoods are shaped by multiple interconnected factors, including economic activities, social relations, environmental conditions, and institutional frameworks. The author analyzes how households in developing countries, particularly in rural contexts, construct diverse livelihood strategies to cope with vulnerability and improve well-being. The work highlights the limitations of conventional poverty reduction approaches and argues for more holistic, people-centered strategies that account for local realities, resilience, and sustainability. It also discusses policy implications for designing effective development interventions that enhance livelihood security and reduce poverty over the long term
